Having Fun Under the Tuscan Sun!

Camp Mom is on the road this week! As I told you my parents and brother arrived last Thursday.  My big girl returned from camp Friday night, shocked and excited at the unexpected surprise of her uncle being there as well. We loaded up the vans on Saturday morning and headed towards beautiful Tuscany.

Now we are a couple days in and having a blast. As soon as I saw the kitchen in the place we are renting I knew I would love it here. I am enjoying every last bite here. It is vacation and a staycation away from home all wrapped into one.

We are cooking at home, spending half of the day in pj's, taking day trips and dining out. It is the perfect arrangement. My kids have been feeding ponies, swimming and playing under the Tuscan sun. It is so beautiful here, and we have yet to be disappointed with the food.

There are so many things that I can't wait to try to make on my own at home. Today for lunch in Florence, I had spinach and ricotta ravioli in sage butter!!!! My mom had it last night, in Siena....but I think mine tasted better. I decided I can totally make this at home too! Keep your eyes out for my Tuscan themed recipes over the next few months.

Until then, here are some of the highlights.

I love these adorable owls I found in Cortona.

My favorite alley way in Cortona.

I have loved taking pictures of lions since my first time in Europe.

  1. That is so fabulous! But referring to the previous post, I'm curious to know if your son was surprised by the uncle! He seemed so sure it would happen, I'm wondering what his reaction was. Or did Big Sister's shock kind of overwhelm Little Brother's reaction? In any case, super cool. When my bro was in Dresden I dreamed of being able to make it over there to surprise my niece. Sadly they had to return before we could pull that off. But I love hearing stories like that.

    1. He was also in shock when he saw them. I was not there just the boys went to get them. He stared at them for a while and would not talk to them until they were driving home. He is shy. Also my dad and brother are big, they were all "life size" He is used to talking to them on Skype! How is your sweet family?

  5. Tamika, sounds like you're having a wonderful vacation with your family! How lucky for your children to be able to experience travel and adventure and to share it with their relatives as well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs. The alleyway in Cortona looks like something right out of a romantic European movie!
