Journaling my Prayers

I was about 19 or 20 the first time I really worked at growing my prayer life. I read a book called Let Prayer Change your Life by Becky Tirabassi. It really did change my life. The book encourages writing out your prayers. This was so perfect for me. I have always loved to journal. It just made sense.  It also encouraged prayer appointments as a way of holding yourself accountable to strengthening your relationship with God. I used to wake up at 5 and set out 2 cups for tea. I imagined that we were talking over tea and I spent the time in prayer.

There was a companion book called the My Partner Prayer Journal. I have so many fond memories of sitting out on the porch writing out my prayers. What I really appreciated was the way that it helped change the way I viewed pray. I approached things differently. Always putting into perspective who God is and what he has done as a way to start a prayer. Then recognizing what I am not through confession and self evaluation. After that making requests of the Lord and finishing it all off with Thanksgiving.

It truly has blessed me and I recommend everyone trying to structure a prayer session that way. At least once, just to try it...I know you will be blessed!

Thanks for joining me again today. If it is your first day, you can find the rest of the series here
